Information you give me

When you request an appointment or contact me, I collect what you provide: your name, email address and phone number, how you prefer to be contacted, a preferred service date, the type, brand and model of your device, a description of the problem, how urgent it is, and how you found me. When I service a device, I also learn about the device and its condition. If I need account access, I’ll explain how to share it appropriately.

Please do not send passwords, payment card details or sensitive files through the website form.

How I use it

  • Scheduling and confirming appointments
  • Diagnosing and repairing your device, and getting your approval for work and charges
  • Invoicing and keeping service and warranty history
  • Answering your questions
  • Keeping this website working and secure

Files on your device

During diagnosis, backup, recovery and repair, I access your files and settings only as reasonably needed for the work you approved. I don’t search your personal files, and I don’t use them for anything other than your service, except as described under Legally required disclosures. Steps that would erase or replace your files need your separate approval. See Access to your files and accounts in the Terms of Service.

Tools this website uses

Running the website involves service providers and plugins that handle some information on my behalf:

  • Gravity Forms — receives and stores the contact and appointment request form
  • Google reCAPTCHA — checks that form submissions come from a person, not a spam program
  • Fluent SMTP — sends the website’s email
  • Google Analytics and Independent Analytics — count visits and show which pages are used
  • Wordfence — helps protect the website from attacks
  • Cloudflare and WP Super Page Cache — speed up and help secure the website
  • WP Live Chat Support — provides the chat widget, where it is shown

Analytics, security and delivery tools may use cookies or similar technologies and may record details such as your IP address, browser and the pages you visit. I share information only as needed to run the website, provide service, or comply with the law.

Legally required disclosures

I may disclose information when the law requires it, for example in response to a valid court order, or when I am required to report images that are or appear to be child sexual abuse material (see Privacy and legally required reporting). Any disclosure is limited to what is legally required or permitted.

Remote screen access

Remote sessions are scheduled in advance and start only when you open the support app and connect. During an authorized session I may be able to see and control your screen through my remote support tool, which is hosted at sh.assurecs.net. Close private files and windows before connecting. You can end the session at any time.

Repair photos and videos

I sometimes make educational repair videos. I only photograph or film your equipment for that purpose, and only publish it, if you give separate permission. A repair request or an inquiry is not that permission, and saying no does not affect your service.

If you agree, I keep identifying details out of anything I publish, such as names, contact information, serial numbers, account details, passwords, private files and on-screen notifications. I don’t use your files, accounts or personal information in that content. See the Terms of Service for details.

Calls and texts

I use your phone number to respond to your inquiry and for messages about your appointment or repair. This website does not sign you up for promotional texts.

Keeping information

I keep service records as long as reasonably needed for warranty, invoicing and recordkeeping. Website form entries stay in the website’s system until they are deleted. I use reasonable safeguards, but no website or system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your choices

You can contact me to ask what information I have about you, to ask for a correction, or to ask me to delete it. I may need to keep some records for invoicing, warranty or legal reasons.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, I’ll update this page and its date. Updates apply going forward.
