What I do

Most projects start with a free planning meeting, for talking about what you need and planning only. Hands-on diagnosis and the work itself are paid, and I quote them first.

Projects I can help with

  • Office Wi-Fi that drops or doesn’t reach every room
  • A slow network, and finding what’s holding it back
  • Setting up or replacing office computers
  • Planning network, firewall or security camera work
  • Deciding whether to repair, replace or upgrade

Installation is usually scheduled for a weekend. I work on projects and problems as they come up. I don’t run an around-the-clock help desk or sell monthly plans.

Pricing

A problem I can fix during a visit is a standard on-site visit, at the same rates as for homes. Planned work is a project with its own quote.

  • Business projects

    $75 per hour

Planned work, like new Wi-Fi, cameras or a firewall, with its own plan and quote. Getting equipment ready at my office may add a quoted setup charge. Advanced projects are quoted separately.

  • Standard on-site visit

$160 includes up to 2 hours

I come to your home or business. After two hours, extra time is $60 an hour. Homes and businesses pay the same visit rates.

How a project works

  1. Discuss.

We meet for free and talk about what you need.

  2. Plan and quote.

I write a plan and a quote, so you know the cost before work starts.

  3. Install and hand over.

I prepare and install it, usually on a weekend, then test it and show you how it works.

Common questions

Is the first meeting really free?

Yes. It’s for talking about what you need and planning the work. Hands-on diagnosis, troubleshooting and installation are paid, at the rates in your quote.

What’s the difference between an on-site visit and a project?

A standard on-site visit is for a problem I can fix while I’m there. It costs the same as for homes: $160 covers up to two hours, then $60 an hour. A project is planned work with its own quote. Project labor is $75 an hour, plus any setup charge in your quote. Advanced projects are quoted separately.

Why would there be a setup charge?

Some equipment, like a firewall, cameras or access points, is easier to prepare and test at my office before I install it. If your project needs that, the charge is in your quote before you agree.

How soon can you start?

It depends on the project and my schedule. Installation is usually on a weekend. I’ll give you a realistic date when we plan the work.

Do you offer a help desk or monthly plan?

No. I help with projects and with problems as they come up, but I don’t offer around-the-clock support.

Can I bring business computers in for repair?

Yes. Drop-off repairs for business computers cost the same as for home computers.

Have a project in mind?

Tell me what’s going on at your office. We’ll start with a free planning meeting, then I’ll send a plan and a quote.
